Maurizio Sarri apologised for his Sexist and homophobic comments made in the past with his former club Napoli in his first press conference with Chelsea.
Sarri was subject to a lot of criticism earlier this year for taking exception to a female reporter’s question at a post-match press conference and replying:
“You’re a woman, you’re pretty, for those two reasons I won’t tell you to piss off.”
But the Italian assured that he is not proud of what happened in the past and vowed to prove that he is a good individual.
“I think those who know me well cannot define me in this way; homophobic and sexist. Absolutely not,” Sarri said in his first press conference with Chelsea.
“I am an extremely open person, I do not have these kind of problems, I hope I will show this when I am working here and living here.”
“These mistakes were made, yes, but when someone makes a mistake they must apologise and accept some allegations can be made by the press.”
“Professional and ethical attitude is very important. More than apologies, I hope you will have the chance to get to know better and forget about this very quickly.”
