Gianluigi Buffon was officially unveiled by Paris Saint Germain today and the legendary goalkeeper said that former PSG midfielder Blaise Matuidi convinced him to join the French champions.
“Blaise is a special person and the empathy between us is very strong,” Buffon said.
“He advised me that PSG need a player like you and you’ll feel very good in their dressing room. It’s something I listened to.”
“I chose to come here because I felt I could still give something important.”
“I want to prove that I’m still a great goalkeeper and I’ll do that. I’d also played for the national team until last year, so I showed I was competitive.
“I’ll keep playing for as long as I feel good and show I’m among the best. As soon as these stop happening, I’ll be the first to step aside.
“I love challenges, I want to test myself. My first training session was difficult, since so many of the lads here speak a different language, but this nonetheless makes me happy.
“In a month or two, I’ll be a stronger person. I’ll have new friends and be accustomed to a new culture. I’ll be a better person and footballer.
